Moroccan Desert Trekking is an 8-day, 7-night tour offered by Foum Zguid Desert Tour, offering a deep immersion into the Sahara from Marrakech. This journey will take you through the varied landscapes of the High Atlas and Jebel Bani Mountains, before embarking on several days of hiking in the heart of the majestic dunes of the Moroccan desert.

Moroccan Desert Trek 8 Days

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech

Welcome at Marrakech airport and transfer to a 3-star hotel for the night.
Meals not included in Marrakech.

Day 2: Marrakech - Foum Zguid - Zaouiat Sidi Abdenabi

Early morning departure towards the Sahara, crossing the Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N'Tichka Pass, then Jebel Bani to Foum Zguid.
Continue by 4x4 to the village of Zaouiat Sidi Abdenabi and the dry lake of Iriki.
Check into a guesthouse, meet the accompanying team, and spend the night peacefully.
Distance covered: approximately 460 km (5.5 hours by road and 2 hours by dirt road).

Day 3 : Zaouiat Sidi Abdenabi - Erg El Mhazil

Start of the hike after loading the dromedaries, towards Erg El Mhazil crossing part of the dried-up lake.
Set up camp at the foot of the large dunes, watch the sunset and have dinner around the fire.
Walking time: approximately 4 hours.

Day 4 : D'Erg en Erg

Continue walking through the dunes, with Djebel Bani in the background.
Setting up camp and spending the night in a tent.
Walking time: 5 to 6 hours.

Day 5: The dunes of El Abdilya

Crossing an erg dotted with tamarisk trees, a vestige of an ancient tributary of the Drâa wadi.
Arrival at the imposing dunes of El Abdilya and setting up camp.
Walking time: approximately 6 hours.

Day 6: The dunes of Khert Elgarzim

Continuation of the desert crossing towards the dunes of Khert Elgarzim, passing by a dried-up lake.
Setting up camp for the night.
Walking time: varies depending on the route.

Day 7: Return to Foum Zguid

Last morning of walking before meeting up with the vehicles for a return to Foum Zguid.
Check into the guesthouse for a relaxing evening.
Walking time: approximately 3 hours.

Day 8: Foum Zguid - Marrakech

After breakfast, departure towards Marrakech, crossing again the varied landscapes of Morocco.
Arrival in Marrakech at the end of the day and end of the stay.
Distance covered: approximately 460 km (5.5 hours drive).
