Itinerary

Marrakech > Foum Zguid > Lake Iriki > Erg Chegaga (1 Night) > Marrakech

This is an intensive, authentic adventure that skips the tourist traps. We travel 7 hours from Marrakech to reach the closest access point to the “real” Sahara, ensuring you spend your evening in the heart of the wild dunes.

Day 1: The Fast-Track to the Wild
We start in the early morning from your Riad or hotel in Marrakech. You will travel across the High Atlas Mountains via shared local transport—a public taxi (for groups of 1–4) or a private minibus (for groups of 8+). Enjoy the views of small Berber villages and cross through Taznakht to reach Foum Zguid, the gate to the Sahara. After a local lunch in Foum Zguid, we switch to your private 4×4. We leave the pavement behind and take the old Paris-Dakar rally track to visit the Tajine Mountains, the prehistoric fossils, and the Oasis of Elmadouar. We then cross the vast, dry Lake Iriki to arrive at our camp, Bivouac Les Nomades, on the edge of the Erg Chegaga dunes. After a welcoming mint tea, you can walk to the top of the highest dunes to enjoy the sunset in absolute silence. The night concludes with a traditional dinner and Berber music around the fire.

Day 2: The Return from the Dunes
Wake up early to witness the desert sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chegaga. After breakfast at the camp, we take the private 4×4 back across the desert terrain to Foum Zguid. Once in Foum Zguid, we say goodbye to the dunes and reconnect with the shared transport—either a public taxi or a minibus for larger groups—for the journey back across the mountains to Marrakech. We will drop you back at your hotel or Riad in the evening, with the memory of the desert silence still fresh in your mind.

Leave the distractions of the city behind and begin your desert journey at the very doorstep of the Sahara. From Foum Zguid, this luxury tour offers a rare blend of comfort and authenticity, guiding you directly into the quiet, untouched wilderness of Erg Chegaga for an unforgettable adventure.
