You will leave the comforts of civilization behind and journey into the vast, silent Sahara, where the only sounds you’ll hear are those of nature and the gentle rhythm of your camel. This is an experience of true immersion, where you’ll make bread in the sand and sleep under the open sky, just as our ancestors did.
Day 1: Foum Zguid → Erg Chegaga Desert Camp
Your Foum Zguid desert tour begins with a welcome at our restaurant in the center of Foum Zguid, where you will meet our team. After a traditional Moroccan tea and a delicious lunch, we will take you to your car, which will be safely parked for the duration of the tour. We will then board our 4×4 and head into the desert. Our route takes us through the Tajine Mountains and to the lush Elagermia Oasis. You’ll visit a fascinating fossil site before crossing the dried bed of Lake Iriki to arrive at our desert camp in the dunes of Erg Chegaga. Here, our dromedary team will be waiting, and you will enjoy a traditional dinner and music around a campfire.
Day 2: Camel Trek to Erg Elghoul
After a desert breakfast, we will begin the most authentic part of our journey. You will start a camel trek to the majestic dunes of Erg Elghoul, an incredibly remote and untouched area of the Sahara. This is where we will set up our mobile camp for the night. You will learn to prepare traditional bread in the sand, just as the nomads do, and enjoy a simple, authentic meal. This evening is a rare opportunity to disconnect from the world and sleep outside under the vast, clear sky, with the Milky Way visible in all its glory.
Day 3: Return to Foum Zguid
After a final breakfast in the dunes, we will meet our driver, who will take us back to civilization. On the way to Foum Zguid, we will make a stop to visit the old Ksar of Zaouit Sidi Abd Enbi and an oasis where the nomads cultivate some vegetation. The tour concludes with your return to Foum Zguid, where you can continue your journey through Morocco.
