Day 1: Agadir → Foum Zguid → Lake Iriki & Erg Chegaga | 380KM
Your desert expedition begins with an early departure from your hotel in Agadir. Our journey takes us through a landscape rich in history and culture. We will stop in Taroudant, known as “Little Marrakech,” to explore its impressive ramparts and a magnificent palace that is now an art gallery showcasing the works of the artist Claudio Bravo. The drive continues through Taliouine, the saffron capital, and Taznakht, famous for its Berber carpets. After lunch in Foum Zguid, the “gateway to the Sahara,” we’ll take the legendary off-road track, passing through the Elagairmia Oasis and a prehistoric fossil site before reaching the vast expanse of Lake Iriki. The day culminates with our arrival at Bivouac Les Nomades in the towering dunes of Erg Chegaga, where a serene sunset awaits.
Day 2: Full Desert Immersion in Erg Chegaga | 30KM
Awake to the sunrise over the golden dunes, with a full day dedicated to a deep, authentic desert experience. After a traditional breakfast, we’ll visit the ancient Kser of Zawia, a sacred marabout, and a nomadic school to learn about the customs and lifestyle of the local community. We’ll also have the privilege of sharing mint tea with a nomadic family, a true highlight of this tour. The afternoon is reserved for a thrilling camel trek, where you’ll be guided across the great dunes of Erg Chegaga to witness a breathtaking sunset. We return to our camp for another memorable evening of delicious food and music under a sky full of stars.
Day 3: From the Deep Desert to Aït Ben Haddou | 30KM off road
After breakfast, we leave the tranquility of the desert behind, heading toward Mahamid Elghizlane, the last town before the Sahara’s vastness. We’ll stop at a sacred oasis before continuing through the stunning Hamada and the Draa Valley. In Tamgroute, you’ll have the opportunity to explore a historic Quranic school and a renowned pottery workshop. We’ll pass through Zagora and then on to Ouarzazate, where we’ll visit the Kasbah of Taourirt. Our day concludes at the magnificent Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you will spend the night.
Day 4: Aït Ben Haddou → Taznakht → Agadir | Approx. 300KM
Awake in the shadow of this iconic ksar. After a final exploration of Aït Ben Haddou, we begin our journey back to the coast. We’ll drive through the Berber town of Taznakht before continuing to Agadir, with a final drop-off at your hotel. This scenic drive through ever-changing landscapes provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on your incredible journey from the desert’s heart back to the Atlantic.
