Our journey from Foum Zguid to Erg Chegaga takes you off the beaten path, crossing the dried-up Lake Iriki and a prehistoric fossil site. Experience the tranquility of the Sahara on a multi-day camel trekking adventure, visiting a nomadic school and sharing a night with a local nomadic family. The trip also includes a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Aït Ben Haddou and the ancient Quranic school in Tamgroute. Day 1: Marrakech → Tizi n’Tichka → Foum Zguid

Your Marrakech desert tour begins with a scenic drive from the city, climbing over the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains. We’ll journey through dramatic valleys and Berber mountain villages before descending to the famous carpet-making town of Tazenakht. Our destination is Foum Zguid, a quiet oasis town and the authentic gateway to your Sahara adventure. Enjoy a traditional dinner and the serene atmosphere of your riad.

Day 2: Foum Zguid → Erg Chegaga (via Iriki Lake & Fossil Site) & Fossil Site)

Today, your Erg Chegaga trip truly begins. We’ll leave the road behind in a private 4×4, venturing into the deep desert. The journey takes us across the hauntingly beautiful, dried-up Iriki Lake, offering a unique desert landscape. We’ll stop at a prehistoric fossil site, a fascinating window into ancient marine life. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive at the majestic Erg Chegaga dunes, the largest and wildest in Morocco. Cap off the day with a sunset camel ride and dinner under a sky full of stars.

Day 3: Erg Chegaga → Erg Elghoul (Camel Trekking)
Your camel trekking adventure starts today. After a traditional Berber breakfast at our camp Bivouac Les Nomades, you’ll begin a multi-day camel trek, leaving the modern world behind to journey deeper into the silent heart of the Sahara. Experience the profound tranquility of the dunes as you make your way towards Erg Elghoul, a truly immersive Morocco desert experience far from the crowds.

Day 4: Nomadic Life & Villages

The camel trek continues as we seek out authentic nomadic life. You will have the unique opportunity to visit a local nomadic school and learn about their ancient lifestyle. The day culminates in a truly unforgettable experience: spending the night with a local nomadic family, sharing a meal, and sleeping under a canopy of stars.

Day 5: Zawiat Sidi Abd Enbbi

After breakfast at our deser camp, our camel trek takes us to the village of Zawiat Sidi Abd Ennbi, an old ksar. Here, you will see how nomads practice traditional agriculture in the oasis, deep in the desert. 

Day 6: Sidi Abd Ennbi → Tamgroute → Zagora

Depart from the nomadic village of Sidi Abd Ennbi and journey toward the famous desert town of Zagora. We will travel via the remote routes near Mahamid elghizlane, stopping to visit a tranquil oasis and an ancient Jewish kasbah. The journey also includes a visit to the historic Quranic school in Tamgroute, renowned for its magnificent ancient library. 

Day 7: Taroudant → Return to Marrakech

With sand in your shoes and stories to tell, begin your final day with a scenic drive from Zagora to the iconic UNESCO World Heritage site of Aït Ben Haddou. You will have plenty of time to explore the famous kasbah, known for its cinematic beauty and mudbrick towers. Afterward, we continue our journey, winding our way back to Marrakech via the stunning Atlas Mountains. You will arrive in the city in the late afternoon, concluding your memorable 7-day Morocco desert tour.
