Embark on the ultimate 4-day desert expedition from Agadir, a thrilling journey that tears you away from the coast and plunges you into the wild heart of the Sahara. This isn’t just a tour; it’s an exhilarating off-road odyssey across ancient lands, leading you to the untamed dunes of Lake Iriki and Erg Chegaga. Prepare to unearth prehistoric secrets, conquer legendary rally pistes, and step back in time in cinematic kasbahs, all while immersing yourself in the true spirit of Berber adventure.

Day 1: Agadir → Foum Zguid → Lake Iriki

We’ll begin our journey early from your hotel in Agadir or Taghazout, heading toward the Sahara. The drive takes us through a landscape of historic towns: Taroudant, known as “the small Marrakech,” the saffron-producing capital of Taliouine, and Taznakht, a town famed for its vibrant handwoven carpets. After lunch in Foum Zguid, we’ll take the old Paris-Dakar piste, stopping at the stunning Tajine Mountains and the Elagermia Oasis. You’ll explore a prehistoric marine fossil site before crossing the vast dried bed of Lake Iriki. The day culminates at Bivouac Les Nomades, where you’ll climb the dunes to watch the sunset, followed by a traditional dinner and music around the campfire.

Day 2: Lake Iriki → Erg Chegaga → Zagora

After breakfast in the dunes, we’ll journey toward the magnificent Erg Chegaga, one of Morocco’s largest dunes. Along the way, we’ll visit a nomadic school and stop for a cup of tea with a local nomadic family, gaining insight into their traditional lifestyle. After lunch in a traditional desert camp, we’ll continue our drive to M’hamid Elghizlane and then on to Zagora. Here, you’ll discover the historic Quranic school, the ancient Jewish Kasbah, and the local pottery workshops. The night is spent in Zagora

Day 3: Zagora → Ouarzazate → Aït Ben Haddou
Today, we head north from Zagora, passing through the beautiful Draa Valley via Agdz to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa.” We’ll visit the Atlas Film Studios and the historic Kasbah of Taourirt before continuing our journey to the world-famous Aït Ben Haddou. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this ancient ksar is a breathtaking example of Moroccan earthen architecture. The night is spent in a charming guesthouse in Aït Ben Haddou.

Day 4: Aït Ben Haddou → Agadir

After exploring the narrow alleyways and cinematic views of Aït Ben Haddou, we’ll begin our final journey. The drive back to Agadir will take you through dramatic mountain passes and scenic routes, allowing you to reflect on the incredible journey from the coast to the heart of the Sahara. The tour concludes with your drop-off in Agadir.

This tour is perfect for travelers who want to journey from the Atlantic coast to the Sahara desert, exploring a diverse range of landscapes from ancient cities to remote dunes. It’s ideal for adventurers seeking an authentic off-road experience and those who appreciate Berber heritage and cinematic history.
