Day 1: Foum Zguid to Erg Chegaga via Lake Iriki
Meet your driver and guide in the centre of Foum Zguid at around 15:00. After a welcome cup of mint tea in our office, we’ll switch to a 4×4 and begin our journey into the Sahara. Our first stop is the dramatic Tajine Mountains, followed by a visit to the tranquil oasis of El Agermia. We’ll also explore a prehistoric fossil site before continuing to a nomadic tent for traditional tea and cultural exchange. From here, we cross the remote dry Lake Iriki and approach the dunes of Erg Chegaga from the lake side, arriving at our desert camp, Bivouac Les Nomades. After a welcoming mint tea, you’ll have the chance to climb the dunes for a spectacular sunset. Dinner will be served under the stars, followed by traditional Berber music around the campfire.
